ARIS STERODIMAS
Dr. Aris Sterodimas M.D. MSc PhD ARCS is currently the head of the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery of Metropolitan General Hospital of Athens. He specialised in General Surgery at The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, London, the United Kingdom. Then, he carried out a research at St Mary’s Hospital of Imperial College, London, where he was awarded his master’s degree in surgery. Part of his training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery was carried out in the University Hospitals Bristol Royal Infirmary Bristol NHS, the Hospitals of the University of Oxford Radcliffe Infirmary NHS, and the Hospitals Hillingdon NHS Foundation Trust. Dr. Sterodimas was afterwards accepted to continue his training in the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery of Ivo Pitanguy Institute, an internationally renowned centre of modern plastic and reconstructive surgery under the guidance of the world-renowned professor of Plastic Surgery Dr. Ivo Pitanguy. Dr. Sterodimas is Certified plastic surgery, following successful completion of the Examinations before the Examination Committee for the award of specialty in Greece, member of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS), member of the International Society of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (IPRAS), member of the Hellenic Society of Plastic Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery (HESPRAS) and member of the Graduates of the Institute of Professor Pitanguy (AeXPI). From 2005 until today he is actively involved in the research of Stem Cells application in the field of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and Regenerative Medicine. He holds a PhD from the Kapodistrian University of Athens and his thesis is on the Adipose Tissue Engineering in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
He has published 53 articles that have been evaluated by eminent scientists in major plastic surgery journals and he has contributed 11 chapters in international books on the innovative techniques he uses in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He serves as an article reviewer for the Scientific Journal of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the Scientific Journal of Aesthetic Surgery and Plastic Surgery.
Dr. Sterodimas is an honorary guest speaker at Universities around the world and he has participated as a speaker representing Greece at the biggest conferences of plastic surgery in the last 5 years. He has written one of the most popular textbooks on regenerative medicine and the stem cells from adipose tissue, which has been translated into many languages. Dr. Sterodimas is a world-renowned plastic surgeon and he is considered a pioneer in the application of adipose tissue stem cells in Plastic and Regenerative Surgery.
